Nolan Family
Nolan Family
Great Grandfather, William Fredrick Nolan, was born about 1831 in Dublin, Ireland, where his father, Hopton Nolan was an attorney. His mother was Ann Allen.
At a guess and as he was married at Beechworth, Victoria in 1856, he probably arrived here in the early 1850's. A bad time to search shipping records because of the Goldrush of that period.
William married Margaret Raynard at Beechworth, Victoria 10th October 1856.
Margaret was born about 1836 at Rathkeale, Linerick, Ireland. Her parents were Christopher Raynard, a farmer and Ann Naylor.
Grandfather, Henry Nolan, one of twins, was born 19 July 1867 at Alexandra, Victoria. William at that time being a storekeeper. Hopton aged 10, Annie deceased, Fredrick aged 6, William deceased and Emma Jane aged 2.
Henry married Edith Elizabeth Mohr about 1893 at Albury, New South Wales. He died at Wagga Wagga, 14 April 1938. Edith's parents were George Mohr, born at Neidrholm, Prussia, between 1829 and 1832 (son of Eustace Mohr, a farmer and miller and Catherina Gyaler). Elizabeth MacDonald born between 1836 and 1839, either in America, Scotland or at sea near Jamaica. Her parents were John Wilson MacDonald and Isabella Stewart.
